Returning Learner From Previous Online Learning Centre

Yes, your completed course content, grades, and certificates will be saved. However, any incomplete modules will not carry over, and you will need to restart them in the new system.
You can find your completed courses, grades, and certificates in the My Transcripts tab, located in the top menu bar.
If you notice missing content or discrepancies in your course completions, please contact support at onlinetraining@electricalsafety.on.ca or call 1-877-ESA-SAFE (372-7233) and select option 6 when prompted.
Log in to your account and navigate to the My Training tab to access your courses and related materials.

Course Progress And Completion

You can check your progress in the My Training tab. Your course status will be marked as "Completed" once you have successfully finished all required modules and assessments.
To check your grades and track your course progress, go to the My Transcripts tab. This section provides an overview of your grades, completion status, and overall progress, allowing you to review your scores and see which courses you’ve completed.

If your progress or completion status isn’t updating, try the following steps:

  1. Refresh the page to ensure the latest data is loaded.
  2. Log out and log back in to reset your session.

You can view all course notifications, updates, and important alerts in the My Inbox tab. This is where you’ll receive messages related to your training activities, course progress, and system updates. Be sure to check My Inbox tab regularly to stay up to date with important information about your courses.

Course Access And Availability

You will have 21 days to complete all courses outside of our Pre-Master Electrician course.

Yes, a one-time 21-day extension can be granted for $90 (+ applicable taxes) if requested before your course access expires.

  • The extension must be requested within the initial 21-day course period.

  • If the extension period ends and the course is not completed, re-enrollment at full course cost is required.

  • If the extension is not requested before course access expires, re-enrollment at full course cost is required.

Yes, you can download reference materials such as course study guides, student manuals, job aids, and other resources. However, you must do so before your access expires. Once the access period ends, you will no longer be able to retrieve them.
No, access to your course materials will expire after 21 days for standard courses or 90 days for our Pre-Master Electrician Training. You may request an extension before your course expires; however, an extension fee and applicable taxes will apply.
No, once your course access period ends, you will no longer be able to review completed courses or past assignments. If more time is needed, you can request an extension before your access expires.
If you completed the course and need proof for your employer or a certification body after your access to the course has ended, you can contact Training Solutions at onlinetraining@electricalsafety.on.ca for assistance in obtaining necessary documentation.

Will my previous progress or data be saved if I enrol in another course later?

Your previous progress may not be saved once your access has expired, as it is typically tied to the original course period. The only exception is if you have been granted an extension before your access expired. However:

  • Completed courses will always be saved in My Transcripts, where you can view course details and completion records.

  • Incomplete courses will not be saved. If you re-enroll in the same course, you will need to start from the beginning.


Certificates And Transcripts

Yes, certificates are available in the My Transcripts tab upon completion of a course.
Once you have completed all required modules and assessments, you can access and download your certificate from the My Transcripts tab.
Yes, you can download or print a transcript of your completed courses and grades from the My Transcripts tab. Simply click the Print button to export or print your course history and grades.

Pre-Master Electrician Training

You will have 90 days to complete the Pre-Master Electrician Training. Extensions can be granted by contacting ESA’s Training Solutions.

Yes, a one-time 90-day extension can be granted for $250 (+ applicable taxes) if requested before your course access expires.

  • The extension must be requested within the initial 90-day course period.

  • If the extension period ends and the course is not completed, re-enrollment at full course cost is required.

  • If the extension is not requested before course access expires, re-enrollment at full course cost is required.


Master Electrician Exam

How can I find out where the Master Electrician exams are taking place?

The cost of the ME examination is $164.00 + HST.

Yes, you can; however, your exam are only valid for 12 months and are required for your ME Licence application.

IMPORTANT: If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for the ME licence (for example, you don’t yet have 3 years work experience) you may want to wait and only apply to write the ME exam when you meet all of eligibility requirements.

Yes, interpreters are permitted. Please contact the Exam Department at 905-712-5385 or Masters.Exam@electricalsafety.on.ca to set up a private exam date.

Any individual requiring an Interpreter during the Master Electrician Exam must send the Interpreter Attendance Request for Master Electrician Exam form in order to arrange for a private exam session. Scheduling and Fees associated with organizing an interpreter are at the expense of the requesting individual.

PLEASE NOTE: ESA does not supply interpreters or have a list of preferred interpreters. Exam takers are encouraged to do their own research to find a suitable interpreter, who meets the following criteria:

  • Either OCCI (Ontario Coalition for Community Interpreters) accredited or ATIO (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario) certified;
  • Holds a valid (not expired) certification/accreditation and able to produce it to ESA;
  • Not in a conflict of interest with the test taker; and
  • Available for the exam date assigned by ESA.


The examination results will be issued within 15 business days. Results will not be provided over the phone.

No. To maintain privacy, exam results are not given over the telephone. Please ensure that you have provided your current email address.

ESA is committed to meeting the accessibility needs of people with disabilities. Please contact the Exam Department at 905-712-5385 or Masters.Exam@electricalsafety.on.ca to request an accommodation.

To make an accommodation request, you must provide a written explanation of the reason for the accommodation request (such as a doctor’s note), as well as a specific description of the accommodation you need when you submit your exam application form. Please specify whether you intend to take your exam in person or online.

Once the request has been received and approved, someone from the Exam Department will contact you to arrange for a private exam session.

Please note: the virtual proctor solution may not be an option for those requiring an accommodation.

No. However, applicants that fail the exam 2 times are asked to take any type of Master Electrician preparatory training course or Code training course - either from ESA, or an accredited college/training facility/company - before attempting the exam a third time.

What materials are allowed?

The Master Electrician Examination is an open book examination. You are permitted to bring only the following to the examination (Pre-Master Electrician Exam course workbooks are not permitted):

  1. Master Electrician Examination Reference Material (Reference Material & Guideline to the Duties and Responsibilities of LEC’s and DME’s) - this can be downloaded from ESA website for free.
  2. Latest version of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (no photocopies). You can bring in a copy of your printed electronic version.
  3. Relevant Legislation that consists of Acts, Bills and Regulations that relate to electrical contracting and is relevant to the training and examination.
  4. Calculator (non programmable)
  5. Pencil & Scrap paper


Can I make notes in my Code book?

You can make notes in the Code book if they expand on concepts or words that might be unclear. You may not add notes that aren’t relevant to the material covered in the Code book.

Reviewers will check the material you bring into an exam before you enter and leave to check for unapproved notes.

Are electronic versions of the Code permitted?

Only hard copy materials are permitted into the exam. Electronic PDF Versions are not permitted for either in person or on the computer exams.

If you are taking the exam on a computer, you are not allowed to open up additional tabs on your screen.

Although not necessary, OESC Bulletins are permitted to be brought and used for the ME exam.
